Johnny Walthall, 72, of Fairfield Bay, died Saturday, March 9, 2024, at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock. Mr. Walthall was a native of Tallulah, Louisiana, and has been a resident of Fairfield Bay for the past eight years. He was a 1970 graduate of Fountain Hill High School, a former resident of Fountain Hill for 22 years, and served as Mayor of Fountain Hill for four years. He was also a former resident of Crossett for 21 years, where he worked as a Winder Operator for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation for 32 years. Mr. Walthall was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed traveling, motorcycle riding, and watching Gunsmoke and the Andy Griffith Show. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother and loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Toney and Annie Smith Walthall; a brother, James Lee “Buster” Walthall and two sisters, Betty Chance and Gracie Spivey.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy Avitts Walthall of Fairfield Bay; two sons, Chris Walthall and wife, Raelyn, of Fort Smith and Jonathan Walthall and wife, Misty, of Cabot; a brother, Eugene “Bubba” Walthall and wife, Alisha, of Henderson, Texas; five sisters, Mary Davis and husband, Marvin, of Fountain Hill, Juanita Knight of Hamburg, Susan Gifford and husband, Rob, of Fountain Hill, Nancy Coulter and Cindy Harris, both of Hamburg; nine grandchildren, Noah, Ian, Caiden, Emily, Trevor, Garrett, Jordan, Riley and Conner and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2024, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bruce Culp officiating. Burial will be in the Flat Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers are Noah Walthall, Ian Walthall, Caiden Walthall, Conner Walthall, David Gardner and Rob Gifford. Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Robinson, Danny Wade Rice, Bruce Huffman, Lane Culp, Stephen Avitts, Wes Kerr and Carlos Howley. Visitation will be 12:30 - 2 p.m., Wednesday, in the funeral home chapel.
