John Doyle Richardson, 82, of Hamburg, died Saturday, January 6, 2024 at his residence. Mr. Richardson was a native of Herbine, Arkansas, a resident of the Milo Community, outside of Hamburg, for the past 58 years, and a former resident of Pine Bluff. He was a 1958 graduate of Woodlawn High School and a member of the Arkansas National Guard for six years. Mr. Richardson worked at the Georgia-Pacific Corporation Paper Mill for 42 years and had retired from the Comp 1 room. He was a humble servant of the Lord and a dedicated member of the Mount Pleasant Free Will Baptist Church. He was affectionately known as the “Church’s candy man” because he never failed to give candy to all the kids every Sunday. He enjoyed going to church, gospel singings, sports and hunting. He especially enjoyed watching his grandkids play soccer. Mr. Richardson was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Reagan Ashlyn Richardson in 2005; his parents, J.B. and Hallie Ashcraft Richardson, and two brothers, Harold Richardson and George Richardson.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Meeks Richardson of Hamburg; two sons, Johnny Richardson and wife, Tracy, of Maumelle and Scotty Richardson and wife, Charlotte, of Crossett; two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Richardson of Crossett and Mary Richardson of Pansy; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other loved ones.
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the Mount Pleasant Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Keith Boseman and Bro. Dale Doss officiating. Burial will be in the Egypt Cemetery. Pallbearers are Wayne Richardson, Tommy Richardson, Rickey Richardson, Steve Richardson, Robert Rush, and Blake Meeks. Honorary pallbearers are James Robert Meeks, Pete Meeks, Shawn Meeks, Reuben Rush, Reagan Rush, Mickey McCone, Jerry Glen Stanley, and Doug Neal. Visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the church.
