James Jeffers, 73, of Hamburg, died Saturday, January 27, 2024, at his residence. Mr. Jeffers was a native and lifelong resident of Hamburg, and a 1968 graduate of Fountain Hill High School. He worked in the garment industry in the cutting department, having retired from S.E.A.M.S. in 2010. Mr. Jeffers enjoyed attending church and was a faithful member of the Eden Baptist Church. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and working in his yard.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Sherry Stanley Jeffers in 2017; a daughter, Melissa Jeffers Barnett in 2015; his father, Woodrow Jeffers and two brothers, Johnny Jeffers and Gary Jeffers.
He is survived by his son, Michael Jeffers and wife, Karla; a daughter, Belinda Jeffers; his mother, Bonita Fairchild Jeffers, all of Hamburg; a brother, Larry Jeffers of Fountain Hill; three sisters, Jeanette Jones and husband, Jimmy, of Fountain Hill, Mary Ivey and husband, Charles, and Virginia Bowman and husband, Bobby, all of Hamburg; five grandchildren, Emmitt Jeffers and wife, Harlie, Kayla Barnett, Laura Barnett, Hayden Stafford, and Tyler Stafford and a host of nieces, nephews and his Eden Baptist Church Family.
Graveside services are 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 30, 2024, in the Hollis Chapel Memory Garden Cemetery with Bro. J.W. Dobbins officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Clint Jeffers, Jon Paul Jeffers, Tony Craig, Stan Craig, Phillip Allen and Wayne Allen. Memorials may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 83, Crossett, AR 71635.
Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
