David Lynn

David Lynn, 69, of Portland, died Friday, December 8, 2023, at his home. Mr. Lynn was a lifelong resident of Lynn Road in Portland and a 1972 graduate of Lakeside High School. He was a cotton, soybean, and rice farmer and participated in the Arkansas Boll Weevil Eradication Program for over 10 years. Mr. Lynn enjoyed being a proud member of the Ashley-Chicot Electric Cooperative Board of Directors for 34 years and was a former Justice of the Peace for Chicot County. He was an avid hunter and a lifelong member of the Snyder Hunting Club. Mr. Lynn enjoyed talking about history, watching Westerns, reading Louis L’Amore books and listening to Outlaw Country on XM Radio. He never met a stranger, was a very caring person and loved to spend time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Audrey Marie Herron Lynn.

He is survived by two daughters, Haley Lynn Vincent and husband, Andrew, of Memphis, Tennessee, and Leslie Lynn Coolican and husband, Matt, of Piperton, Tennessee; a sister, Martha Fitts and husband, Jimmy, of Lake Village and four grandchildren, Drew Vincent, Liam Vincent, Rosemarie Vincent and Audrey Coolican.

Graveside services are 10 a.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2023, in the Montrose Cemetery with Bro. Reed Breedlove officiating. Honorary pallbearers are the Ashley-Chicot Electric Cooperative Board of Directors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the LeBonheur Children’s Hospital Foundation, PO Box 41817, Memphis, TN  38174 (www.lebonheur.org) or to the Montrose Cemetery Association, c/o Rita Chandler, 133 Lynn Road, Portland, AR 71663.  

Visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
