Bessie M. Mormon Pierce

Bessie M. Mormon Pierce, 93, of Crossett, died Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at her son’s residence in Crossett. Mrs. Pierce was a native of Parkdale, a resident of Crossett for the past three years, and a former resident of Hamburg for most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the North Main Baptist Church. Mrs. Pierce had a green thumb and enjoyed working with flowers and in her yard. She was a wonderful cook and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Douglas Frank Pierce in 2011; a son, Robert Dement in 2015; her parents, Jeff and Fannie Coulter Mormon; a sister, Frances Dura and four brothers, Guy Mormon, Jack Mormon, Robert Mormon and Herman Mormon.

She is survived by three daughters, Dorothy Spurlock and Gina Keller, both of Crossett and Sherry Rand and husband, Steve, of Warren; two sons, William Pierce and wife, Vicki, and Jeff Pierce, both of Crossett; two special nieces, Glenda Mormon Emmick and Mary Dura Anstett; two special nephews, Bill Dura and Herman Mormon, Jr.; 11 grandchildren, Lisa Rand, Christy Rand Wilson, Elizabeth Dement Warbington, Toni Spurlock Rice, Dusty Keller, Lauren Pierce Williams, Kelsi King, Jennifer Lynn Dement, Dwain Dement, Matt Dement and Nicole Hill; numerous great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are 2 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2023, in the Cleveland Cemetery with Bro. Bodie Spicer officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Steven Sadler, Herman Mormon, Johnny Pierce, Eddie Corder, Mike Pennington, Josh Keller, Gerald Tomerlin, John McLeod, and Charlie Maxwell. 

Visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
