Ruby Young Batterton Martin, 78, of Crossett, died Sunday, June 25, 2017 at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. Mrs. Martin was a native of Horatio; a resident of Crossett and a former resident of Hamburg and Portland for many years. She worked for the Ashley County Abstract Company for over 20 years. She was a member of the North Crossett First Baptist Church and a former member of the Trinity Free Will Baptist Church. She was a quilter and enjoyed quilting with the Trinity Church ladies. She was an avid reader and read constantly and was an avid watcher of The Price Is Right. Her family was most important to her. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Jim Batterton in 2004 and LaDon Martin in 2010; her parents, James Wesley & Lillie Hilton Young; six brothers, Wesley, Lloyd, Benny, Earl, Jim and Glen; three sisters, Floy Bell Young, Lillie Ima Young and Bernice Stinnett.
She is survived by two daughters, Penny Breedlove and husband, Jerry, of Hamburg and Phyllis Rawls and husband, Tommy, of Crossett; five grandchildren, Heath Breedlove, Wesley Breedlove, Meredith Breedlove, Brent Reed and Leigh Ann Robertson; 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the North Crossett First Baptist Church with Bro. Robin Allen and Bro. Keith Boseman officiating. Burial will be in the Portland Cemetery. Pallbearers are Wesley Breedlove, Guy Hughes, Ray Harper, Robert Burns, Gale Anders, Denon Cagle and Bob Bridges. Memorials may be made to the North Crossett First Baptist Church Building Fund, 1035 HWY 133 N., Crossett, AR 71635 or to the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, 765 Ashley Road 70, Hamburg, AR 71646.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday at the church.
