Rosie Rice Spencer, 79, of Hamburg, died Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Charlyn Nursing Home in Winnsboro, Louisiana. Mrs. Spencer was a native of Portland, a former resident of Portland for many years and she was a resident of Hamburg since 1982. She was a homemaker, a member of the Aulds Baptist Church and she attended the North Main Baptist Church in Hamburg. She loved her children, her grandchildren, gardening, cooking, and working in her flower and rose gardens.
She is preceded in death by her husband, W.Z. “Dub” Spencer in 2001; her parents, John Henry & Mamie Blount Rice; three brothers, Carl Rice Sr., Bobby Joe “Bo” Rice and Carrol Rice; two sisters, Ethel Burgess and Ella Mae Jackson,
She is survived by a son, Terry Knight and wife, Lisa, of Rome, Georgia; three daughters, Pat Glosup of McGehee, Pam Tarver and husband, Joe, of Winnsboro, Louisiana and Kathy Earney and husband, Frank, of Conway; a sister, Corlene Satterfield of Dumas; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Monday, October 5, 2015 in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery. Pallbearers are Scott Reed, Jake Earney, Nick Ware, Brandon Duke, Daniel Nichols and Logan Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Teddy Hickman, Ralph Jackson, Herman Jackson and Byron Jackson. Memorials may be made to the North Main Baptist Church, 1105 N. Main, Hamburg, AR 71646.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
