Rev. Hunter E. Carpenter, 82, of Hamburg, died Monday, October 10, 2016 at the Crossett Rehabilitation and Health Center. Mr. Carpenter was a native of Fountain Hill and a resident of Hamburg for the past 56 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was the Parts Manager for the Higginbotham Motor Company and the Linder Motor Company in Hamburg for many years. He was a Minister and pastored several Southern Baptist Churches in Arkansas and Louisiana. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lige Clark & Lula Strong Carpenter and a brother, Floyd Norman Carpenter.
He is survived by is wife of 60 years, Willene Graves Carpenter of Hamburg; a son, Rev. Tim Carpenter and wife, Dianna, of Hot Springs; a daughter, Gail Carter and husband, Randall, of Van Buren; a sister, Janis Graves and husband, Jerry Wayne, of Hamburg; three grandchildren, Adrianna Carter of Rogers, Andrew and Will Carpenter both of Hot Springs and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Pennington and Rev. Garry Graves officiating. Burial will be in the Prairie Grove Cemetery with Rev. Gayle Riles and Rev. Tim Carpenter officiating. Pallbearers are Mark Bowden, Clyde Upton, Steve Upton, Jerry Jackson, Ricky Carpenter, Will Carpenter, Andrew Carpenter, Kevin Graves, Randall Carter and Wayne Graves.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
