Maxine Murphy

February 6, 1929 ~ June 16, 2012 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Mrs. Maxine Murphy, 83, of Portland, died Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village. Mrs. Murphy was a life long resident of Portland. She was a beautician and a member of the Portland Baptist Church. She was a very loving, caring, kind and patient person. She was a devoted wife and mother and she enjoyed quilting.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Beauford Murphy in 1996; her parents, Frank & Rilla Howie Royal; a brother, Aubrey Royal and four sisters, Iner Mae Luker, Louise Huffman, Muriel Williamson and Madel Griffin.

She is survived by four sons, Charlie A. Streeter Murphy of Portland; Roy E. Streeter Murphy of Hamburg; Lamar E. Streeter Murphy and wife, Stacy, of Magnolia and Anthony Clyde Murphy of McGehee; two sisters, Mavis McCown of Gladewater, Texas and Elizabeth (Tiny) Gulledge of Montrose; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2012 in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home chapel with Brother Mark Harris and Brother Carl Mason officiating. Burial will be in the Pinewood Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jay Powers, Jerod Williamson, Lamar Huffman, Brian Huffman, Dale Kerr and Steve Powers. Honorary pallbearer is Robert Kelley.
