Mary Pistole Ludlam

December 9, 1925 ~ September 19, 2017 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Mary Pistole Ludlam, 91, of Hamburg, died Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello.  Mrs. Ludlam was a native of Hamburg and a resident of Hamburg for many years.  She was a former resident of Houston, Texas for 12 years, having moved back to Hamburg in 1975.  She was a 1943 graduate of Hamburg High School and a 1946 graduate of the Touro Infirmary School of Nursing in New Orleans, Louisiana.  She was a veteran of the United States Army Nurses Corp having entered the service in 1943.  She worked for the Area Agency as a skilled home care nurse and as a Health Educator for Mainline Health System in the Delta.  She was the former co-owner of Ludbar Apartments and managed the apartments for many years.  She took a personal interest in every residents well being and care. She was saved as a Baptist at the First Baptist Church in Hamburg and she was a faithful member of Hamburg First United Methodist Church and one of its oldest members.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William Miller Ludlam in 2010; a son, Bob Ludlam in 2009; her parents, Cecil and Doris Ford Pistole and a brother, Billy Pistole in 1961.

She is survived by a son, Bill Ludlam and wife, Lynn, of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Lee Ann Grimmett and husband, Patrick, of Little Rock; two sisters, Linda Pistole Johnson of Mitchelville, Iowa and Ann Pistole of North Liberty, Iowa; five grandchildren, Kim Hutchins, Jennifer Bloomfield and husband, Troy, all of Houston, Texas; Laurie Laudeman and husband, Charles, of Centennial, Colorado, Miller  and Charlie Grimmett both of Little Rock; six great-grandchildren, Hannah Hutchins, Isabella Hutchins, Will Laudeman, Luke Laudeman, Braxton Bloomfield and Everett Bloomfield and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are 2 p.m., Friday, September 22, 2017 in the Hamburg Cemetery with Rev. Greg Comer officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Helping Hands Food Pantry, 816 Pine Ridge Drive, Hamburg, AR  71646 or to St. Jude’s, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105-1905.
