Marshall Thurman, 86, of Lacey, died Monday, September 4, 2017 at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. Mr. Thurman was a native and lifelong resident of Lacey and a 1950 graduate of Drew Central High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation for 22 years, Potlatch for 19 years and he was a member of the Prairie Grove Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Melinda Adcock in 2012; a grandson, Bradley Thurman; his parents, J.C. “Collie” and Bonnie Hackney Thurman and two brothers, Adrian Thurman and Laron “Wink” Thurman.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Irene Lunsford Thurman of Lacey; a son, Butch Thurman of Gloster, Mississippi; a daughter, Mitzi Williams of Crossett; two step-sons, Gene Owen and Dean Owen both of Monticello; five brothers, Doby Thurman of Bastrop, Louisiana, Charles “Bitty” Thurman of Lacey, Jimmy Thurman of Quitman, Keith Thurman of Lacey and Lamar Thurman of Crossett; two sisters, May Carter of Crossett and Fay Wilhite of Lacey; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017 in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ricky Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in the Lacey Cemetery. Pallbearers are Kip Carter, Cameron Stain, Danny Ray Thurman, Lee Moore, Bobby Ray Thurman and Justin Thurman. Honorary pallbearers are Ben Tiner, Curtis Gilbert, Ralph Holland and Hurley Ashcraft.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
