Marjorie Hickman Hargis

Marjorie Hickman Hargis, 96, of Hamburg, died Monday, November 23, 2015 at her residence in Hamburg.  Mrs. Hargis was a native of Bradley County and a resident of Hamburg on two separate occasions, for over 37 years.  She graduated from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with an Associates Degree in Religious Education.  She was a homemaker; a Southern Baptist Pastor’s wife for 60 years having served as secretary as well as other various jobs in the churches that her husband pastored at Union Hill Baptist Church in Ingalls, Marsden Baptist Church in Bradley County First Baptist Church in Idabel, Oklahoma, North Maple Baptist Church in Stuttgart, First Baptist Church in Tiller, First Baptist Church in Atkins, First Baptist Church in Marshall and First Baptist Church in Hamburg.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Rev. Klois L. Hargis in 2011; an infant son, Christopher Hargis in 1944; her parents, John Alex & Hattie Trussell Hickman; six sisters and a brother.

She is survived by a son, Jimmy Hargis and wife, Sharon, of Hamburg; two grandchildren, Matthew Hargis of Little Rock and Elizabeth Hargis Moseley of Conway and two great-grandchildren, Paxon Hargis and Bennett Moseley.

Funeral services are 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating.  Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Gary Graves, Wayne Graves, Tommy Hollis, Henry Bierbaum, David Streeter and Jimmy Goodwin.  Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 352, Hamburg, AR 71646. 

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
