Leona Cocoquille Estell Wagner Poplin

Leona Cocoquille Estell Wagner Poplin, 93, of Crossett, went to join her Lord and Savior in Heaven on Sunday, June 5, 2016. She was a native and resident of Monticello until the Great Depression when she and her parents and brothers moved to Dumas.  She has been a resident of Crossett for the past 19 years and she was a former resident of McGehee. She and her husband owned Poplin’s Mobile Home Park on 5th Street in McGehee for 40 years and she was a homemaker.  Her joy in life was going to church at the First Assembly of God Church in McGehee and Crossett. Her second joy was being a Gideon and doing the Lord’s work.  Her other joys were walking, working in her yard and having a garden. 

She is now celebrating with her beloved husband, J.T. Poplin; a son, Calvin Lewis Poplin, her parents, Joseph and Ella Rector Wagner, four brothers, William, Joe Jr., Sidney and Cecil Wagner and a son-in-law, Billy Allison, who preceded her in death.

She will be waiting in heaven with open arms for her children, G. Evelyn Hammond and husband, Terry, of Elsberry, Missouri, Jerry O. Poplin and wife, Martha, of Cabot, B. Gail Burchfield and husband, Buddy, and Theresa D. Allison all of Crossett. The pride of her life was all of her 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She loved each and every one of her family and friends with all of her heart.

Funeral services are 2 p.m., Monday, June 6, 2016 in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Toby Austin officiating. Burial will be in the McGehee Cemetery.  To close this chapter of her life, she requested that her grandsons, Bill Allison, Brad Burchfield, Kevin Poplin, Chris Poplin, Bryan Allen, River Johnson and Bryson Allen to take her to her resting place.  Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Arkansas, 201 Markham Center Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205 or to Gideon’s International, PO Box 83, Crossett, AR 71635.  

Visitation will be 1 p.m., Monday until the service.
