John "Possum" Hudson

           John “Possum” Hudson, 80, of Hamburg, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the Pinewood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Crossett.  Mr. Hudson was a native of Fountain Hill and a resident of Hamburg and Ashley County all of his life.  He graduated from Fountain Hill High School and he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served during the Korean Conflict.  He worked for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation for 27 years and he was a Baptist.  He enjoyed family get-togethers and he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

            He is preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Matilda Durey Hudson, five brothers, Warner A., Floyd C, John Edward “Gunt”, Ralph and Jim Thomas Hudson and a sister, Betty Doris Rochester.

            He is survived by five daughters, Elizabeth Ann Ingram of Monticello, Toni Denise Hudson Hopper of Crossett, Karen Elaine Stell of Denson, Texas, Rhonda Lynn Hudson of Brevard, North Carolina and Dawn R. Hudson Merrell of North Little Rock; his former wife, Joyce Hudson Rush of Hamburg; two brothers, Billy Hudson and Frank Hudson both of Fountain Hill; two sisters, Pat Chavis of Fountain Hill and Louise Dunemn of Warren; 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

            Funeral services are 2 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Andy Connard and Bro. Eddie Dean Savage officiating.  Burial will be in the Flat Creek Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Jim Hudson, Doug Hudson, Larry Hudson, Chad Hudson, Allen Chavis, Dale Chavis, Timothy Chavis, Bill Wallace, Drake Hudson, David Rochester, Greg White, Bryan Hudson, Roy Hudson, Kenny Dunemn, Dewayne Hudson, Bryan Merrell and Steve Hudson. 

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
