John Adrian Thurman

July 17, 1926 ~ November 27, 2015 (age 89) 89 Years Old

John Adrian Thurman, 89, of Hamburg, died Friday, November 27, 2015 at the Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello.  Mr. Thurman was a native of Lacey and a resident of the Promise Land Community outside of Hamburg for 54 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army and he worked for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation for 48 years.  He attended the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church.  He loved to fish and hunt and was a big time gardener.

He is preceded in death by a son, Johnny Allen (Bebop) Thurman in 2008; his parents, J.C. (Collie) & Bonnie Hackney Thurman and a brother, Laron (Wink) Thurman.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years,  Willene Bozeman Thurman of Hamburg; a son, Danny Thurman and wife, Vickie, of Petal, Mississippi; a daughter, Kay Montgomery of Hot Springs; five brothers, Doby Thurman of Bastrop, Louisiana; Marshall Thurman, Charles Thurman, Jimmy Thurman and Keith Thurman all of Lacey;  two sisters (twins), May Carter of Crossett and Fay Willhite of Lacey; 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 2 p.m., Monday, November 30, 2015 at the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Michael Reece and Bro. Josh Luellen officiating.  Burial will be in the Lacey Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Kevin Thurman, Dustin Thurman, Charles (Bull) Wells, Trey Montgomery, Landon Burton and Lee Thornhill.  Honorary pallbearer is John A. Hardie.  Memorials may be made to the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church, 765 Ashley Road 70, Hamburg, AR 71646. 

  

Visitation will be 3 – 5 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
