H. Leon Wood

H. Leon Wood, 68, of Hamburg, died Monday, August 15, 2016 at his residence.  Mr. Wood was a native of Dermott and a resident of Hamburg for the past 44 years.  He graduated from Crossett High School in 1966.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Vietnam Conflict.  He worked for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation, Paper Mill, for 46 years having retired in 2013.  He was a family man and he loved his grandchildren. He was an animal lover and he loved working in his yard. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Lee & Elizabeth Kilcrease Wood and a brother, Lloyd Wood.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Debra K. Hill Wood; a son, Jason Wood and wife, Jeannie, all of Hamburg; two brothers, Lawrence Wood and wife, Nancy, of Petal, Mississippi and Lewis Wood and wife, Kay, of Crossett; two sisters, Patti Brantley and husband, Alvin, of Harrison and Pam Smith and husband, Harold, of Crossett; two grandchildren, Jaisley and Joel Wood and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services and interment are 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the Hamburg Cemetery with Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 901 N. University Avenue, Little Rock, AR 72207.  

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
