Glenn Wayne Douglas, 53, of Hamburg, died Friday, March 9, 2018. Mr. Douglas was a native of Rockford, Illinois and a resident of Hamburg since 1971. He was a 1982 graduate of Hamburg High School and a veteran of the United States Navy having served on the USS Halsey. He completed the Industrial Maintenance Technical Program and took the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Program at the University Of Arkansas College Of Technology at Crossett. Mr. Douglas was a Painting Contractor and a member of the First Baptist Church. A member of the SEArk Hunting Club, he was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and cooking.
He is preceded in death by his father, Bill Douglas; his step-father, Alfred Farmer; a nephew, Sam Tanksley and his grandparents, Hubert and Sylvia Witcher.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Penni Knight Douglas of Hamburg; four daughters, Ramsey Douglas of Hamburg, Ferrin Douglas of Bryant, Lauren Douglas and Ashley Zeigler and husband, Justin, all of Hamburg; a granddaughter, Emersyn Cannon of Crossett; his mother, Joyce Witcher Douglas Farmer; a brother, Mark Douglas and wife, Jennifer, a sister, Lisa Allison and husband, Dan, all of Hamburg; three half-brothers, Phil Boss and wife, Carol, Adam Boss and wife, Kelli, all of DuQuoin, Illinois and Perry Boss of Granite City, Missouri.
Funeral services are 1 p.m., Monday, March 12, 2018 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating. Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery. Pallbearers are Bobby McClain, Robert Wray, Chuck White, Bubba Edwards, Brian Oliver and Carlton Savage. Honorary pallbearers are the Hamburg High School Class of 1982, Gary Don Madden, Stan White, Steven Kilcrease and J.D. Nelms.
