Donald Hickman, 72, of Bastrop, Louisiana, died Saturday, December 17, 2016 at his niece’s residence in Crossett. Mr. Hickman was a native of Monroe, Louisiana and a resident of Bastrop for most of his life. He worked as a Fireman in Bastrop and was a Policeman in Oak Grove. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam Era. He was a Golden Glove Boxer for many years and taught boxing after he retired.
He is preceded in death by his father, Wiley Hickman; his mother and step-father, Opal Madden Hickman Risher and Bob Risher; a sister, Joette Hickman and two brothers, Billy Jack & Robert Hickman.
He is survived by eight sons, Aaron Hickman of Oak Grove, Louisiana, Grant Hickman of Clinton, Seth Hickman of Shreveport, Louisiana, Randy and Ricky Hickman both of Florida, Caden Hickman of Clinton, Donavan Hickman of West Monroe, Louisiana and Chad Hickman of Bastrop, Louisiana; four daughters, Noel Taylor, Tamara Stripling and Deni Hickman all of Bastrop, Louisiana and Becky Hickman of Florida; his twin brother, Ronald Hickman of Crossett and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services are 2 p.m., Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the Carter Cemetery on Collinston Road in Bastrop, with Bro. Stan Keeley officiating. Honorary pallbearers are William Roy Hickman, Carl Hickman, Jerek Garcia, Keith Hickman, Ishiah Garcia, Bruce Hickman, Kenny Hickman and Glen Farrah.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
