Bobby Slaughter, 80, of Hamburg, died Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Slaughter was a native and life long resident of Ashley County and Hamburg. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a carpenter and painter and he was a member of the Rolfe Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Renee Johnson in June of this year; his parents, Doc Wilson & Lovette Pruitt Slaughter; two brothers, Buddy & John Slaughter and eight sisters, Agnes Slaughter, Flory Moore, Marion Streeter, Martha McDaniel, Shirley Dehart, Estelle Griffith, Ruby Caine and Alvie Dansby.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Della McCrory Slaughter of Hamburg; a sister, Barbara Kirkland of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 10 a.m., Thursday, December 29, 2016 in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Richard Addington officiating. Burial will be in the Crossroads Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jason Sanders, Billy Wayne Streeter Aaron Pamplin, Jerry Pamplin, Glen Pamplin Jr., Tony Craig and Stan Craig.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
