Billy Joe Roper, Sr., 76, of Hector, died Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. Mr. Roper was a native of Wilmot and a resident of Hector for the past 51 years. He worked for the General Water Works Utility Company for over 30 years. He was an avid Razorback fan and he enjoyed horses, farming and watching wrestling. He was a beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather and he loved spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by a son, Ricky Roper, Sr.; his father, Mode Franklin Roper and a brother, M.F. Roper.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, JoAnn Beegle Roper of Hector; two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy J. and Tina Roper of Mountain View and Dennis and Tammy Roper of Dover; a daughter, Betty Richmond of Rayville, Louisiana; his mother, Veda Bernice Roper of Russellville; a sister, Nancy Harrison of Homosassa, Florida; two grandsons, Ricky Roper, Jr. of Atkins and Craig Roper of Russellville and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and interment are 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the Dry Bayou Cemetery with Rev. Joe Yates officiating.
Visitation will be 15 minutes before the graveside service at the cemetery.
