Alan Douglas McCone

Mr. Alan Douglas McCone, 39, of Crossett, died Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. McCone was a life long resident of Crossett and Hamburg. He graduated from Hamburg High School in 1990 and he worked for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation for 17 years. He attended the Mount Olive Baptist Church for many years and was currently a member of the First Baptist Church. He coached girls softball for 6 years and he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Foster Hunting Club in Hempstead County and a member of the Turkey Federation.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Emil & Merle Douglas and Oscar McCone.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Melissa Blue McCone; his children, Sydney McCone and Carson McCone; his parents, Rusty & Cookie Douglas McCone; a brother, Trent McCone and wife, Christian; a sister, Kara Mixon and husband, Michael; his grandmother, Dorothy Tucker McCone; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John & Georgia Blue, all of Crossett and three nephews.

Funeral services are 3 p.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Hodge and Rev. Jamie Staley officiating. Burial will be in the Crossroad Cemetery. Pallbearers are Lee Barnett, Donnie Day, Brad Bolin, Jeff Jenkins, Keith Swaim, Robbie Bridges, Ricky Babb and Gary Higginbotham. Honorary pallbearers are David Bell, Jeff Woods, Richie Tauton, Eric Vest, Steven Smith, Craig Pennington and Ronnie Day. Memorials may be made to the Ashley County Health Foundation, Alan McCone Memorial, PO Box 400, Crossett, AR 71635.
