Mr. John Calvin Bussell, Jr., 79, of Hamburg, died Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the Southeast Rehabilitation Hospital in Lake Village. Mr. Bussell was a native of Hamburg; a resident of Hamburg for the past year and a former resident of Lake Village for 30 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a mechanic for the Potlatch Corporation and a member of the Chicot Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by a son, Joe Bussell in 2010; his parents, John Calvin & Mildred Sparks Bussell and his grandmother, Appie Sparks.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Winnie Streeter Bussell of Hamburg; a son, Johnny C. Bussell and wife, Sharon, of Middleton, Tennessee; a sister, Brenda Gray of Jacksonville; a brother, Carrol E. Bussell and wife, Willie, of Sulphur Springs, Texas; nine grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 2012 in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Powell and Rev. Robin Hood officiating. Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery. Pallbearers are Johnny Oliver, Morris Knight, Mike Bays, Mickey Craig, Hugo Barajas and Andy Kinnard. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Amos, James Arey, Bill Spurlock, Eric Stone and Patrick Tomerlin.
