Mrs. Gladys K. Murdaugh, 81, of Portland, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the Woods of Monticello. Mrs. Murdaugh was raised in Hazlehurst, Mississippi where she was a beautician where she owned her own beauty shop. She then moved to Indianola, Mississippi where she was an accounts payable clerk for the Super Value Warehouse Distributor for 20 years. She moved to Portland 15 years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of the Portland Baptist Church and she was a mother and grandmother to everyone.
She is preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Murdaugh; her parents, William David & Iva Leggett Kimble and a brother, Earl Kimble.
She is survived by three sons, John Arthur Murdaugh of Portland, William Oscar Murdaugh and wife, Lois, of Spotsylvania, Virginia and Richard Murdaugh and wife, Amanda, of Portland; two brothers, Paul Kimble of El Paso, Texas and David Kimble of McComb, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Rick Murdaugh and wife, Amanda, Ashley Murphy and husband, John, and Laura Beth Murdaugh and two great-grandchildren, Brentley & Cole Murdaugh.
Graveside service and burial will be 1 p.m., Monday, April 2, 2012 in the Portland Cemetery and a memorial service at 2 p.m., at the Portland Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Mason officiating. Memorials may be made to the Portland Cemetery Association, PO Box 174, Portland, AR 71663.
