Mrs. Elise Land, 91, of Portland, died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at her residence. Mrs. Land was a native and life long resident of Portland. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was an avid fisherman and she loved gardening and camping.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Sam Land, Sr., in 1992; her parents, Bill & Emma Finney Morris; three sisters, Erie Mae Atkins, Louise Harrell and Mary Cogbill; three brothers, Billy Dean Morris, Sr., Joe Morris & George Morris and a special daughter-in-law, Barbara Land.
She is survived by two sons, Bro. Sam Land, Jr., of Montrose and James Land and wife, Ola, of Crossett; three brothers, James Morris, Leon Morris and wife, Dianne, C.W. Morris and wife, Rynn, all of Pine Bluff; a sister, Inez Hamby of Monroe, Louisiana; 4 grandsons, Trey Land and wife, Deandria, Jamie Land and wife, Casey, Stacy Kellum all of Crossett and Greg Winn and wife, Nicole, of Strong; three granddaughters, Kathy Brown and husband, Luke, of Lexington, Tennessee, Susie Haseloff and husband, Robert, of Jackson, Mississippi and Doylene Ricks and husband, Franklin, of Hamburg, 18 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Friday, February 17, 2012 at the Sardis Baptist Church with Dr. Greg Pierce and Rev. Timmy Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Snyder Cemetery. Pallbearers are Franklin Ricks, Clyde Cossey, Wilbur Austin, Bob Young, James Curtis Gwin and Robby Spaulding. Honorary pallbearers are her great and great-great-grandchildren.
